  1. This version has no personality. I am using Mac with el Capitan, and the characters are stiff and unnatural with mechanical voices. I copied over my old version of Hoyle Card Games, assuming this version would be far superior. Boy, was I wrong.

  2. In my opinion this is truly pathetic software. I am not so much concerned with the rudimentary quality of the cartoon characters. More importantly I was expecting card playing that follows the program’s own stated rules, and artificial intelligence that plays reasonably well. This software fails miserably on both counts. My particular concern is with Bridge. Regarding Hearts, I simply cannot believe how dumb the robotic players are. I can win at its Hearts game by attempting to “Shoot the Moon” with almost any hand. The bots are completely complicit in allowing me to be successful.I bought three copies of this software six months ago. One was for me and two for Christmas presents. I am embarrassed to have been a donor. When I complained to the company back then, the same PR guy who responds to reviews here asked be to become in essence a much belated beta tester. I have not heard anymore from him regarding that. If I do, I will decline, since in my opinion this mess is a total waste of anyone’s time.

  3. I was very disappointed. There is very little game info. no upkeep on scoring, There is no real game just the cards on the table and off. I want to see the play as well as running score. It’s not worth returning The price was the only positive.

  4. I just got the Hoyle Official Card Games Collection a day or so ago. I am very happy with it. I wanted it mostly because it had the game of Bridge on it. I hadn’t played the game in years and thought I had better hone my skills with a computer game. The first day I got it, I spent 4 hours just playing Bridge. I was almost cross-eyed afterwards but it was worth it. It’s very easy to install. Just slip the CD in once you get the card games and follow the simple instructions of downloading it. It jast takes a few minutes. It’s pretty much self-explanatory after that. Some reviews I read about it complained about the resolution of the “newest edition” (this one) but I don’t have a problem with it. To me, it was worth the purchase. I think the ultimate card player would like to buy this product.

  5. One of the things I was very excited about was the ability to change to a dark theme to resemble the look of Adobe Illustrator. This is the only thing that had held me back from buying Corel Draw products. But it seems it’s not available in this home & student version only in the full version which is a huge disappointment. It’s difficult to spend much time working on something when everything is so bright. My eyesget tired quick and I know I’m not the only that has complained about it. I just don’t get whythey couldn’t have added that feature. The only cheap solution is to create a large dark square bigger than the canvas and lock the layer then work on top of it.Other than that I truly love the rest of the software the call out tools are great and also the dimension toolswhich Adobe Illustrator lacks. There are many other features I do enjoy over Illustrator. And I guess for the priceI shouldn’t complaint so much. After doing some research it seems there is another version called “CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X8 Academic”Which is only a few dollars more expensive but seems to have more features than this version, from the screen shotsit seems to have the dark theme too. So go buy that one if you’re a STUDENT!!NOTE: if you’re not a student you’ll have to get this one since the “Academic” one will most likely requirea school email for verification.

  6. What an awful program!I use a very high resolution monitor and the menus on this program are all but unreadable. Corel does NOT adhere to the Windows programming rules – id they did, this would not be an issue.I called tech support looking for a solution – their answer – change the resolution of my monitor or buy the professional version since has menu text size adjustment – at more than twice the cost.Sorry Corel, if you refuse to work to the industry standard you can pay the bill by losing me as a customer (since 1990).

  7. I don’t know who wrote this software, but they needed to add a lot more to it. No instructions on how to play the other games and a waste a time and money. Don’t bother.

  8. I wanted regular solitaire. The only solitaire in this game is Klondike. I must not have read the advertisement because if I had known that I never would have bought it. I can’t even give it away.

  9. I have been using Corel PhotoPaint as an alternative to PhotoShop for years and years. Now you can only buy it as part of the whole CorelDraw Suite, but luckily if you only use it to make fun graphics for personal use, as I do, you can get the Home & Student edition for just $89. I used an older version, 4, for around a decade, installing it on every new computer, until I hit a wall with Windows 10 where it was incompatible. Last year I bought the X7 suite and that worked, but when I got a new Surface Pro 2017 a few days ago, X7 appeared to install properly but when I tried to launch it, I got an error message that said “Corel PhotoPaint has stopped working.” Same with Draw.I did a repair, tried the old F8 and reset to factory defaults trick, even uninstalled and reinstalled, but nothing worked. Okay, I figured they were going to force me to upgrade to X8. So I bit the bullet and bought the license here on Amazon, downloaded the software, went through the installation routine again (after deleting X7 again) and … same error message when I tried to open it.Back to researching the issue. Almost an hour of research later, I finally stumbled upon the solution. You have to go into the Color Management settings and add the sRGB IE61966-2.1 profile and set it as the default. Then you have to go to the system32/spool/drivers/color folder on the hard drive, create a new SurfaceProfiles folder there, and move the surface-srbg.icm and surface-srgb-enhanced.icm files into it.Well, of course, anyone could have figured THAT out, right? But it did work. And I have a sneaking suspicion it would have also worked with CorelDraw X7 and I wouldn’t have had to buy X8 if I’d found it earlier. So if you’re reading this because of that same problem with X7, you might want to give the above solution a try before you spring for X8.As for the program itself, it works great but I’m not seeing any significant changes from X7. Which is fine with me — I hate when software vendors change up the interface on you or take away features you needed.
